Today I took my wife and daughter to Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” at the dinner theatre. It was fantastic! My daughter was a little overwhelmed at first because she thought it was “too fancy.” I’m not really sure what that means. However, we all really enjoyed the experience.

When I first became a Christian I talk about this a lot more than I do now.
Tonight as my family was at Mc Donald’s we got into a conversation with a
lady that just got out of jail. The women shared her worries and concerns
about losing her car, worried about her job, and what she was going to tell
her 14 year old daughter about being in jail. So T and I prayed for her in
Mc Donald’s. I was a little surprised how much it touched the lady. She
began to cry, and right after we prayed for her she began talking about
wanting to get baptized. God must have just touched her heart. I reassured
her that God has been with her these past days she was in jail. She asked
for my contact info, because she was coming back to our town for a court
appearance in July.

I need to slow down more often and open my eyes to those people hurting that
need ministry. That is what this past weeks sermon was all about, slowing
down and seeing people and their needs, and then meeting those needs or
pointing them to the God who can supply their every need.

We are pretty pumped. We first heard about it coming last year, and we have had our tickets since October. Hakunamatata!

We had a bit of a scare this morning in our schools. There was a 18 year old gunman on the loose in our city near one of our local junior/senior high schools and elementary schools. They completely locked down the schools and surrounded them with police. Eventually, the gunman turned himself in. This was fairly scary in the light of the school shooting two weeks ago.

On the school note, my 5 year old visited her potential kindergarten for next year. It is a charter school wear there can only be 12 students per class. Two weeks ago her name got pulled out of a hat to be a part of this very innovative elementary school. My wife and I were pretty impressed by the school, and our daughter really liked it too. This is coming from parents that really felt like we were to home school. I think God may have different plans. We haven’t 100% decided on sending her there yet, however we are leaning torwards sending her to school this fall.

This year’s Easter ended up being fairly low key. I had very little responsibility at church this morning. We did not have Sunday school so I didn’t have to worry about that. I just did announcements and helped with communion. We had our service off-site this morning at our local Civic Center ballroom. This proved to be a pretty good idea as we then only had one service. (we normally have 3) Attendance was bigger than most Easters. On a normal Sunday we have about 600 in attendance. This morning they figured the numbers were around 1100. For us, that is huge. I don’t think we were ready for that sort of response. We didn’t have enough seats! It was a pretty cool problem.

After that my family and I headed to China Buffet, were we ate all the fried MSG food we could eat. Yahoo!

Then we spent the afternoon with my parents playing Texas holdem’ and watching some exciting NCCA basketball. Way to go Big Ten!

This coming week brings the 30 Hour Famine. I am a little nervous about this year because it looks like we are going to have a ton of students in attendance. I hope we are able to feed lots of kids through the experience. I need more volunteers to pull it off.

my karate kids
My wife showed my five year old and my two year old the final scene from “Karate Kid” today. When I got home they were acting out the scence from the picture. It was hilarous. It was even funnier that my wife initiated it.

I am so proud of my daughter and my wife. About a year ago they had an art show of all the artwork my daughter had made. It was a lot of fun. This time she did it again, only this time she had an art sale called “Art for Asia”. We made flyers and handed them out at church this past week.
So last night about 30 people came, bought kid art, and donated to Tsunami relief. We will be giving the funds to World Vision It is wonderful to grow a world changer.

Now here is a good idea. I hope this works, and I hope they keep this around when my kids are ready for college.

I found this through Rudy C blog.

Today I am blown away with how much scripture my 5 year old has memorized so far this year. She has memorized more than me this year. That is kind of cool and kind of sad all at the same time.

Lord, may the Word that is being planted in her not only stay in her mind but also invade her heart so that she can draw from it and grow in the future.
My wife and I are praying, what to do for school for our five year old next year. The options we are weighing are home schooling, half day kindergarden, or all-day kindergarden at a pretty neat charter school.

Lord please give us direction and make it clear to us.
